Meet Samantha Sheeley - Softball Advisor
Samantha Sheeley joins the CAA team and brings a wide range of experience. Born and raised in Iowa, Samantha grew up playing multiple sports throughout high school and was a strong athlete but a late bloomer. Samantha began her career at Indian Hills Community College before she went on to play her final two years at Emporia State University, leading her team to the Division II World Series Championship game. Samantha also won a NPF Championship, playing professionally for two seasons, before retiring in 2010.
Samantha’s coaching career began in 2009, as a grad assistant coach, making school history and being named on the NSIC Coaching Staff of the year at Winona State University. Her next coaching endeavor was as assistant pitching coach at Wichita State University, where she stayed for 5 seasons. In 2014, Samantha helped lead the Shockers to their first Missouri Valley Conference Championship and was a part of the MVC Coaching Staff of the Year.
Following her time at Wichita State, Samantha moved to California and joined the Cal-State Northridge (CSUN) staff for two seasons before pursing her career in counseling. While making the transition, Samantha coached at Santa Monica Community College and acted as interim Head Coach in 2018.
Off the field, Samantha worked in a residential home for teens struggling with mental health and substance abuse. Through daily conversation and meaningful exploration, Samantha learned the importance of building and maintaining relationships, while emphasizing goal setting, overcoming obstacles and achieving success. Since ending her playing career, Samantha stayed connected with coaches, players and the game as a pitching instructor and mentor. These experiences have shaped Samantha’s approach in empowering athletes on their journey to the next level.
Samantha is a National Certified Counselor and is working towards her state licensure in Arizona. Samantha’s journey taught her there are many different ways to get an end result and every player’s journey is unique.
